Emmerdale village utterly broken as residents are in bits after Jimmy’s death

An absolutely heartbreaking end (Picture: ITV) The residents of Emmerdale were given the news in today’s episode that Jimmy King (Nick Miles) has died. The long-standing resident, first introduced in 2004, crashed into a wedding marquee earlier this week. Jimmy headed up the road in his car ready to prepare a surprise for Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler). On the way, he had to swerve to avoid hitting someone. His car smashed through the tent, with the collision knocking him, Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) and Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) all unconscious. Nicola arrived at the scene and quickly rushed to try and help her husband, but it quickly became clear that he wasn’t going to survive. The character died in his car, marking the end of an era. With Joe trapped, Dawn had no choice but to grab Nicola and make a run for it. The marquee exploded before Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough) could run in and grab Joe. In a pretty miraculous twist, however, he actually survived. As Dawn and Joe were rushed to hospital in today’s episode, Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy) arrived at the scene and supported Nicola, who fell apart as Jimmy’s body was brought out of the wreckage. By this point, word had got round to the rest of the villagers that Jimmy had died. In the pub, residents including Eric Pollard (Chris Chittell), RodneyBlackstock (Patrick Mower) and Bob Hope (Tony Audenshaw) all spent time reflecting on the life Jimmy lived.
