Earlier this year, Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) pushed Dr Todd during a confrontation. The evil surgeon smacked her head on a table and died seconds later. In the immediate aftermath, Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) told DS Thea Ramsden (Chelsea Edge) that she killed Doctor Todd in a moment of self defence. This storyline has had so many twists and turns. When Charity confessed to Sarah that baby Leyla isn’t actually her child, Sarah retaliated by telling Ramsden that Charity intentionally killed Dr Todd. Sarah’s guilt eventually got the better of her. Desperate to find a way to free Charity, an opportunity presented itself for Sarah when she discovered Thea’s friendship with Serena Sugden (Casey Al-Shaqsy). Sarah learnt that Thea knew the truth about how Doctor Todd died, and asked her to do something to free her gran. In yesterday’s episode, Ramsden got to work on her plan, which involved the return of a familiar face. DI Roberts, played by Isobel Middleton, headed to the village last year to investigate Anthony Fox’s (Nicholas Day) disappearance. After tampering with evidence, Thea told Roberts that an interview file had become corrupted. Roberts was disappointed, and explained to Thea that she isn’t sure if the CPS will take the case seriously anymore. Thea risked her job to help Charity (Picture: ITV) Back at home, Serena updated Sarah, Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) and Jacob Sugden (Joe-Warren Plant) and revealed that Charity’s case is more than likely going to collapse, which will probably lead to her being released.
