After discovering that baby Leyla isn’t actually her child, Sarah went to the police station and changed her statement so that Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) would be charged with murdering Doctor Caitlin Todd (Caroline Harker). Charity’s loved ones were in shock at Sarah’s actions. To try and get revenge himself, Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) threatened to tell Jacob Sugden (Joe-Warren Plant) the truth about baby Leyla, and how Sarah actually killed Dr Todd. He reacted with anger and pushed Sarah away at first, but Jacob eventually decided that he still wanted to be with Sarah and raise baby Leyla…away from the village. Her guilt increasing, Sarah then headed to the police station and decided to change her statement back to the original one, hoping it would secure Charity’s freedom. Unfortunately, what Sarah didn’t think about while doing this were the consequences she’d face by telling the police that she lied to them. Back in the village, Sarah updated a very worried Mackenzie. She admitted that she doesn’t think the police believe her comments, and fears it will be up to the jury to decide whether Charity is actually guilty or not.
