Emmanuel Emegha ‘could leave Chelsea without kicking a ball as Serie A club consider shock transfer’

Emegha was signed by the Blues last summer but remained at sister-club RC Strasbourg for the season before joining in July. He is yet to make a debut in any form after missing every match of the summer tour in Australia and Hong Kong due to injury. Emegha was not named on the bench for Monday’s Premier League opener away at Fulham. He is competing with Danny Welbeck for a spot behind Joao Pedro in Xabi Alonso‘s squad. And Emegha appears to have beaten Nicolas Jackson to a position in the first-team group. There have been suggestions all summer that Emegha might be forced out of Chelsea before properly getting a chance to shine. But plans to cash in on Jackson – who can demand a much higher transfer fee – have left Emegha with an opening. He missed a chunk of last season in France through injury and only scored four Ligue 1 goals. They came from 10 matches with two assists. Emegha did bag another two in the Conference League but was limited due to fitness issues. He impressed in 2023/24 and 2024/25 with 22 goals and five assists across the two campaigns.
