IT was the fashion show that aimed to give clothes a second life – though ironically it won’t be getting a second series. A TV insider said: “The overall idea was a worthy one which tapped into the hunger for fashions, sustainability as well as anything that felt like some kind of life hack. Sign up for the TV newsletter Thank you! “But the show didn’t quite gain the audience it needed to justify getting another series, even though there were hopes it might continue for years to come.” The source added: “Fashion shows now have to vie with competition from influencers and online shows, many of which also tap into the fashion and beauty market.” The news come weeks after I revealed that AJ Odudu and Vernon Kay‘s show M&S: Dress The Nation had been axed by ITV, though at least that made it to a second series. Like ReStyle, Dress The Natin was a contest in which up-and-coming creative types had to prove their skills with the chance of bagging a top contract with M&S. It was a particular blow for AJ, as the other big ITV show that she presents — Celebrity Big Brother — already has a big question mark hanging over its future. Axing ReStyle is likely to be a disappointment for Emma as it was another foray for her into making television for streaming platforms. Most read in TV Her first — for Netflix — was Love Is Blind, which she co-hosted with her husband Matt Willis. However, she is still hosting Cooking With The Stars alongside comedian Tom Allen. She has at least one more series of The Voice on ITV, plus there’s a little dance show coming up on BBC One that will also help to fill her time. The Scots actor will star in upcoming Prime Video thriller Trauma. Richard‘s career took off after being cast as soldier-turned-cop David Budd in Jed Mercurio’s hit show, which aired on BBC One in 2018. Since then he’s gone off to Los Angeles to star in a string of big films and TV series, ranging from Eternals to Citadel. In Trauma he plays another former military man who has to combat terrorists after they seize a London hospital. And, rather like his character in Bodyguard who was protecting Home Secretary, played by Keeley Haes, this time he’s trying to save the Prime Minister. If I were Jed I’d flattered . . . and sensing a little déjà vu. THE BBC has confirmed The Sun’s story that Traitors favourite Joe Marler will become the first-ever Celebrity Gladiator. The ex-England rugby ace will be known as “Mauler” and battle civilian contenders across series four of Gladiators, which is filming now. GEN Z? The line-up won’t be too familiar to TV viewers, even though they have a combined online following of 15 million. RuPaul’s Drag Race queen Paige Three, Beauty influencer Tennessee Thresher, fitness pro Lily Lifts and YouTuber SV2 are among those who will appear. The main show will be on BBC One, but the spin-off featuring the influencers will be digital-first on iPlayer and YouTube. Both air next year. Stacey, Love Island’s Doctor Alex George and the content creators will explore the science behind some of the internet’s most-viewed health fads – from horny goat weed to coffee enemas.
