Emirates Launches Major New 16-Hour A350 Route To The US: See Map Now

Educated in Air Transport Management at Loughborough University and Cranfield University, James has a PhD in Airline Strategy and Economics. James was Market Opportunity Analyst at London Luton Airport and Chief Analyst at anna.aero. He taught airline strategy and economics to undergraduate and postgraduate students for five years and has worked closely with multiple carriers on route and market intelligence projects. He is based near London, UK. That did not take long. Despite only being revealed in late September, Emirates has just started flying the Airbus A350 to the US for the first time. The initial route is from Dubai (where else?) to Orlando. It is the Gulf giant’s second service on the Airbus twinjet to North America. Flights to the so-called O-Town join those to Montreal, with that route seeing the equipment for the first time in January 2026. When writing, no other route to Canada or the US is down to see the A350-900, but that'll inevitably change in time. Simple Flying's live flight tracker shows that the 'honor' for the first departure went to A6-EXT, which ch-aviation indicates was delivered to the airline in May 2026. The A350 replaced the 328-seat Boeing 777-300ER on the route, which had only replaced the 276-seat 777-200LR at the start of October. It has been an equipment merry-go-round, but only the 298-seat A350 is scheduled from now on. This is notable for various reasons, including because the A350-900 has Emirates' latest hard product in all classes. However, it means that flights from Dubai International Airport (DXB) to Orlando International Airport (MCO) lose first class. There are other benefits to switching to the A350. Due to the type's slightly lower capacity compared to the 777-300ER, the long route's frequency has jumped from sub-daily to daily on a year-round basis, increasing convenience, usability, and market share. Emirates last had a daily service to MCO in 2018. It is no longer the airline's least-served destination in North America. Frequency DXB To MCO; Local Times MCO To DXB; Local Times Daily EK219: 3:05 AM-10:30 AM (16 hours and 25 minutes) EK220: 8:20 PM-7:10 PM+1 (13 hours and 50 minutes) Swapping equipment fairly regularly means that first class to MCO has been hit-and-miss anyway. Cirium Diio data shows that no flight class seats were available in four of the past 11 months, which coincided with when the 777-200LR was used. This on-again, off-again approach might speak volumes about Emirates' attitude towards the route or, more likely, that MCO does not warrant that cabin. Whether surprisingly or not, MCO was Emirates' first destination in Florida. Flights to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) materialized in December 2016, partly because of the airline's relationship with JetBlue. That route ended in March 2020, with Emirates launching flights to the much more obvious Miami International Airport (MIA) in July 2021. Loading map… Drag to explore Booking data for the 12 months to July 2026 shows that approximately 70% of the MCO passengers originated or ended in the City Beautiful and connected to another flight in DXB. Unsurprisingly, India was the largest country market. The route's top ten segments were MCO to/from Mumbai, Manila, Bali, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Johannesburg, Delhi, Jakarta, Chennai, and Bangkok. Emirates has passenger flights to 14 airports in the US/Canada, with 16 daily departures. As the only frequency rise year-over-year was to MCO (five weekly to daily), the market's overall flights have changed only marginally. The only route with more than a daily flight is from DXB to New York JFK (three daily A380; one via Milan Malpensa). The other 13 routes are daily: Boston (777-300ER), Chicago O'Hare (777-300ER), Dallas/Fort Worth (777-200LR), Houston Intercontinental (A380, which has just resumed operating), Los Angeles (A380), Miami (777-200LR; flights continue to Bogotá), Montreal (A350-900), Newark (777-300ER via Athens), Orlando (A350-900), San Francisco (A380), Seattle (777-200LR), Toronto (A380), and Washington Dulles (777-300ER). How long until the routes operated by the 200LR switch to the A350?
