Elliott Sadler isn’t done yet as NASCAR return becomes official

As they’ve done throughout the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season, Kaulig Racing has announced a free agent driver for their No. 25 truck. This week at North Wilkesboro, it is Ryan Newman. On Saturday, ahead of the Faith Fest 250, Kaulig announced Elliott Sadler will return to the driver seat to race at Richmond on August 14. He’s excited for the opportunity. Homecoming for Sadler “I’m really looking forward to getting back behind the wheel at Richmond Raceway in front of the great Virginia fans,” said Sadler via press release. “It’ll be fun getting back into a truck — I just hope I still remember how to drive it. Richmond has always been special to me, and I’m thankful to Ram and Kaulig Racing for giving me this opportunity to compete again. I really cherished my career in NASCAR and how special the fans have been to me.” Sadler, who made 855 Cup, O’Reilly Auto Parts and Truck Series starts, with the most recent in 2019, is an Emporia, Va. native. Sadler and Chris Rice have history Kaulig CEO Chris Rice, a South Boston, Va. native, has a long racing history with Sadler at South Boston Speedway. Rice served as Sadler’s crew chief in the early 1990’s and the two won the track championship together in 1995. “We are so excited to have Elliott drive for us at Kaulig Racing. Elliott and I grew up racing together at South Boston Speedway, so to have him race for us in Richmond, in front of our home state fans is special,” Rice said. “We won tons of races together and thanks to Ram, Matt Kaulig and everyone at Kaulig Racing we have the opportunity to go out and try to win one more.” In 438 Cup Series races spanning 16 years, Sadler has three wins and 69 top tens. He had 8 career poles. In 20 races in the Truck Series, Sadler has one win, 10 top tens, and two poles.
