Ella Langley’s ‘Choosin’ Texas’ Smashes Record for Most Weeks at No. 1 for a Non-Holiday Song

Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” has topped 20 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 — making it the longest run ever at the top of the chart for a non-holiday song. The song passed Shaboozey’s 2024 hit “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” and “Old Town Road,” by Lil Nas X feat. Billy Ray Cyrus, with which it was tied for a 19-week run — and if it holds on for three more weeks, it will pass Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” which holds the record with 22 weeks over the past seven years. If “Choosin’ Texas” manages to go the distance and somehow beat “All I Want for Christmas” as the all-time leader in weeks at No. 1, it may be a short-lived victory, of course, since the Carey song has tended to go No. 1 for a few weeks every December in recent years. Popular on Variety Langley’s hit has been certified six-times platinum, with more likely to come. She swept all seven of her nominations at the 2026 ACM Awards, setting a new record for the most wins by an artist in a single year, including female artist of the year and song and single of the year for “Choosin’ Texas.” She followed that with two American Music Awards, for best female country artist and best country song. And the victory lap isn’t over: “Choosin’ Texas” was just nominated for best country at the 2026 MTV VMAs. The singer recently launched the second leg of her sold-out “Dandelion” tour, which continues through the fall with upcoming stops including Red Rocks Amphitheatre and two nights at The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles.
