Ella Langley Subtly Responds to Doja Cat Claiming ‘I Don’t Know What That Is’ About the Country Star

In a Thursday (Aug. 27) post on Instagram featuring photos and videos from her recent travels and performances, Langley appeared to lightheartedly poke fun at the rapper’s comments about her by writing in the caption, “Ella Langley? What is that?” The post itself wasn’t related to Doja, with some slides showing Langley on an airplane and others capturing the Alabama native getting her makeup done, holding a butterfly or cuddling with an adorable dog. It comes a few days after the “Say So” artist guested on Sundae Conversation and, with her signature candor, responded to a question about whether she was a fan of Langley’s with, “I don’t know what that is. Ella Langley?” After her initial comments were met with disbelief from fans, Doja said she listened to Langley’s record-tying 19-week Billboard Hot 100-topping smash “Choosin’ Texas” for the first time on a livestream. The hip-hop hitmaker acknowledged that Langley has “a very pretty voice,’ but ultimately said that she just doesn’t “give a f–k about country music.” “I don’t understand what’s so hard to believe about that,” Doja continued on the stream. “I never cared. I like that one Keith Urban song from 2004. I wouldn’t say that I like [Langley’s] music; she’s probably a fine lady. I don’t care for that type of s–t at all. It doesn’t inspire me, it doesn’t make me feel good.” “This is not my vibe, but she has a very pretty voice,” she added. “If this is No. 1 on the charts, I’m sure it’s on the radio. I could see them playing this s–t on the radio. I don’t like it, but that’s fine. It’s very earwormy it sounds like, it’s like catchy melody. I get it, and she’s pretty.” But while Doja isn’t a fan of “Choosin’ Texas,” it’s clear that countless other people are. The song recently tied Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus’ “Old Town Road” for second-most weeks at No. 1 on the Hot 100. If it remains at the top for another seven days, it’ll tie Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” for the longest reign at the chart’s summit.
