Electric vehicle maker recalls over 98,000 vehicles over rearview camera issue

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the recall applies to the following vehicles: 2022-2027 R1S 2022-2026 R1T 2027 R2 The California-based EV maker said it is unaware of any customer reports, accidents, injuries, or fatalities related to this issue. The recall is necessary because when the affected vehicles are put into reverse, a notification may obstruct the rearview camera image. Because the image is obstructed, the vehicles no longer comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. To correct the issue, a free over-the-air update will be provided by Rivian. Affected owners are expected to be notified of the recall via letter starting Nov. 9.
