Elderly man, 88, killed in savage leopard attack after beast jumped on veranda & dragged him away from home as he slept

Startled by the weapon-wielding group, the leopard abandoned its prey and fled back into the woods. Ram suffered severe injuries, particularly to his neck, in the savage attack. Forest Department crews reached the village soon after being called to the emergency by the victim’s family. The injured man was first taken to the Mihinpurwa Community Health centre for initial treatment, Times of India reports. Due to his serious condition, he was referred to the district hospital. But doctors declared the man dead on arrival. Most read in The Sun Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Apoorva Dixit said an operation has been launched to capture the beast responsible for the attack. The department has also intensified patrols of the area following the tragedy. “Every possible effort is being made to ensure that no similar incident occurs again”, Apoorva said. It comes just months after a tourist was mauled by a snow leopard in China, in a vicious attack which left blood pouring from her face. The tourist spotted the dangerous predator while skiing off-piste in the resort town of Koktokay and rushed over to get a cute snap. But seconds later, the big cat pounced and left the woman with serious injuries. And a zoo worker was left in critical condition after being ferociously attacked by a leopard in Israel. The 25-year-old employee suffered severe injuries to his neck when he was attacked by the big cat at Jerusalem Biblical Zoo. Paramedics found the man bleeding and unconscious, according to Magen David Adom. He was rushed to Hadassah Hospital in Ein Kerem for emergency treatment.
