Eight foreign ministers condemn Katz and Ben Gvir’s Gaza displacement plan

The foreign ministers of eight countries have condemned statements and plans by Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz and National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir for the mass expulsion of Palestinians from Gaza. In a joint statement, the foreign ministers of the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey and Egypt said the proposals are a flagrant violation of international law and pose a direct threat to the inalienable rights of Palestinians. The Israeli ministers floated proposals this week for the removal of Palestinians from the besieged enclave, with Ben Gvir laying out a seven-year plan for displacement through "voluntary emigration". He said he would seek the creation of a "ministry in charge of emigration" in the next government. The foreign ministers urged the international community, particularly the UN Security Council, to oppose any attempts to impose a new demographic or territorial reality in Gaza.
