Egypt tops 10 destinations for Uzbek tourists-Ambassador

Uzbekistan’s Ambassador in Cairo Mansurbek Kilichev, said that Egypt has officially ranked among the top 10 favourite travel destinations for Uzbek tourists, with about 26,000 Uzbeks visiting the country during the first half of 2026, according to Uzbek statistics. The ambassador, in statements on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, described the figure as “a remarkable achievement” that highlights the growing closeness between Egypt and Uzbekistan. Uzbek visitors are drawn not only by Egypt’s world-class beach resorts and renowned hospitality, but also by the deep cultural, historical and spiritual ties linking the Egyptian and Uzbek peoples, making Uzbeks feel genuinely welcome in Egypt, Kilichev said. He added that Uzbek tourists appreciate Egyptian hospitality and enjoy visiting the country’s historic landmarks, including the Pyramids and the ancient city of Luxor. Kilichev said the noticeable increase in the number of Uzbek tourists visiting Egypt reflects the strong friendship and constructive dialogue between the leaderships of the two countries, which has helped facilitate smoother travel. He said tourism growth has been strongly supported by an extensive air network, with direct and charter flights connecting Tashkent to Cairo, Sharm El-Sheikh and Hurghada. Expressing his satisfaction with the latest figures, Kilichev said they represent only the beginning, noting that there is significant potential for further growth in the sector. He said he expects the number of Uzbek tourists visiting Egypt to rise further by the end of 2026, adding that tourism serves as an ideal bridge for cultural exchange while naturally opening new opportunities for trade and economic partnerships as relations between the Egyptian and Uzbek peoples continue to deepen. The ambassador said the embassy remains fully committed to supporting Egyptian and Uzbek travel partners to maintain this positive momentum. According to the ambassador, the top 10 preferred destinations for Uzbek tourists are Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, China, Egypt and Vietnam.
