EDAC Changes Merged For Linux 7.3 After Being Forgotten About During The Merge Window

While the Linux 7.3 merge window officially closed on Sunday with the Linux 7.3-rc1 release, the Error Detection And Correction "EDAC" subsystem changes were mistakenly forgotten about during the two week window. The pull request ended up being sent out on Monday evening and the late feature changes were already merged to Git. After the EDAC pull request was forgotten about for sending during the Linux 7.3 merge window, Linus Torvalds obliged and merged the late changes with orphaning some drivers as well as making some AMD and Intel improvements to note. On the Intel side it merges the Intel Starfire SoC support in the iGEN6 EDAC driver. Starfire is the Panther Lake derivative being built for "extremes" for surviving in space and other extremely harsh conditions. The Intel client EDAC drivers iGEN6 and iE31200 have also unified some of their address translation logic and made other improvements to clean-up the code. On the AMD side, the Address Translation Library "ATL" is now only being loaded on systems that actually have ECC memory. Up to now AMD ATL loaded on all AMD Zen systems and in turn for non-ECC platforms it would end up yielding spam in the kernel log for failing to load properly. Now though with it only loading on AMD Zen ECC platforms it will avoid that scenario. The EDAC pull also ends up orphaning the ThunderX and MPC85XX EDAC drivers. The MPC85XX driver is for Freescale/NXP MPC83xx and MPC85xx PowerPC memory controllers. The ThunderX driver is for the former Cavium/Marvell ThunderX ARM SoCs. Due to no one maintaining it and the other upstream kernel developers not having hardware access, these drivers are now orphaned and will likely be removed in the future.
