Speaking to The Sun at the Inside Soap Awards, she said: “That was really bad. I suppose some things come to an end, but to go out like that… “She was an iconic character. It was a shock! We are always sad to see someone go as you’ve got two relationships with them – a relationship with the character and a relationship with the person. “We’re actors, that’s the name of the game and you go onto the next chapter. Anytime when anyone goes, it’s sad.” The Sun exclusively revealed last month that the character would die in one of the ‘blandest’ deaths in the show’s history. After the scenes aired, viewers took to social media and shared their disappointment over Zoe’s departure. One person wrote: “I just can’t believe that’s the way it’s ended for Zoe. Most read in TV “The character deserved much better, Michelle Ryan deserved much better. “It’s a travesty and a masterclass on how NOT to treat your legacy characters. #eastenders.” Another added: “What an awful way for Zoe to be written out #Eastenders.” Comment now
