Lauren Branning and Mark Fowler keep running into trouble (Picture: BBC/Jack Barnes/Kieron McCarron) You’d think that after being caught out by Ned Hawkins (Jamie Bamber), EastEnders’ Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) and Mark Fowler Jr (Stephen Aaron-Sipple) would have learned to be a bit more careful about concealing their affair. But seemingly not. The pair are nearly rumbled yet again next week after another risky passion encounter, leaving Mark in an awkward situation. Lauren and Mark embarked on a full-blown affair earlier this autumn after months of flirting and false starts. Bored by her marriage to dependable but beige Peter Beale (Thomas Law), Lauren finally gave in to her attraction to hunky Mark, but they soon found themselves in trouble when Ned walked in on one of their secret romps while viewing the vacant No. 31. Ned used his knowledge of their affair to blackmail Mark into staging a homophobic attack on his son Ryder (Felix Uff), who manipulative Ned is determined to keep in the closet. Lauren’s time with Mark is interrupted by Yolande Trueman (Picture: BBC/Jack Barnes/Kieron McCarron) Next week, Mark and Lauren are still struggling with their guilt following Ryder’s attack as the former footballer grows closer to Ian Beale. They desperately try to find a way to spend some time together, but after a number of failed attempts they finally find some privacy – at the Community Centre, of all places. Naturally, being such a public place and all, it’s not long before their rendezvous is interrupted when Yolande Trueman (Angela Wynter) spots Lauren and orders her back to the laundrette, having failed to do what was asked of her there. (Picture: BBC/Jack Barnes/Kieron McCarron) With the pair’s attempts to get down to it constantly going wrong, later in the week, when Peter takes their son Louie Beale away for the weekend, Lauren sets her sights on ridding the house of Oscar Branning (Pierre Counihan-Moullier) and Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) so she and Mark can hook up. When they eventually get their chance, however, passion turns into emotion, Lauren gets overwhelmed by her feelings. Is their affair about to turn into something a lot more serious?
