Is this Dee’s last Christmas? (Picture: BBC/Metro) If Max Branning (Jake Wood) somehow survives Christmas in EastEnders but Denise Fox (Diane Parish) doesn’t, it’s going to take more than a glass of mulled wine to make me feel festive. Just finished watching the Winter Trailer. I have some notes. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video By my count, Maxie-B was punched twice, was threatened by various characters three times, and received five looks that could kill – not forgetting that shot of a gun resting on a table. At this point, the Walford love-rat has less chance of survival than the last mince pie in the box. No wonder. Not only did he bin off Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) mere hours after their wedding, but he’s also the one who left Zoe Slater (Michelle Ryan) to die. Then let’s not forget the fact that he slept withRavi’s wife (Aaron Thiara), making that punch in the trailer look like karma in action. There’s overcooked brussel sprouts more popular than Max. Yet, you just know know, that after twenty years of selfish scheming, cheating and self destruction, he’ll live to see another day like the cockney cockroach he is. How is Max still alive? Seriously. (Picture: ITV) If that ominous close up of a death certificate featured in the trailer isn’t for Max, I would be annoyed. But I could live with it. But if Denise Fox dies at Christmas? Nope. Nuh-uh. I’m kicking off. Ask Metro Use AI to go deeper into the stories you care about – powered by Metro and trusted publications. In a trailer packed with Max, Dee got very little love. However, what we did see was truly the nightmare before Christmas. There was a shot of her cuddling a worried looking Amy (Ellie Dadd), before telling her family that ‘I told them… I want to stop’. Judging by the devastation on their faces, it seems that Denise is resigned to halting her cancer treatment. The Walford legend has been fighting a losing battle against leukemia, which has proven resistant to chemotherapy. To make matters worse, Denise has been unable to find a match for a stem cell transplant.None of her family can save her, not even her long-lost brother Darnell (Christopher Colquhoun). Is Denise about to give up in her battle with cancer? (Picture: BBC) The stress of life on the Square isn’t helping. Especially when her step-daughter Amy is in the clutches of vile predatory detective Craig (Matthew James Bailey). This is why Dee’s condition has taken such a dramatic turn for the worse, with collapses and nose bleeds. Please, EastEnders. Don’t tell me we’re gearing up for a Christmas deathbed scene. Isn’t it bad enough that we’ve got Debbie Webster’s (Sue Devaney) last Christmas on Coronation Street? Do we really need another? We can only hope that whoever gets shot is the only casualty of this year’s festive fatality, and Denise lives to be fabulous another day.
