EA Sports FC And NBA $150 Editions Are Topping Pre-Order Charts

As anyone desperately hunting for RAM knows, gaming has turned into a very expensive hobby over the past two years. The rising cost of game development, technology, and hardware components has hit our industry especially hard, resulting in consumers having to pay extra for controllers, consoles, subscriptions, and oh so much more. It wasn’t that long ago when we were all furious at Nintendo for introducing $80 games with the Switch 2, but that’s sadly become the norm for triple-A releases. EA and Take-Two clearly thought we weren’t shelling out enough, as they recently announced $150 editions for EA Sports FC and NBA 2K27 that sadly seem to be doing very well. EA Sports FC 27 And NBA 2K27 Are Topping Charts With Their $150 Editions Don’t Be Surprised If Other Publishers Start Following Suit Earlier this week, NBA 2K27 and EA Sports FC 2027’s reveals came with the nasty surprise that both had premium editions that cost a whopping $150. EA Sports FC’s Ultimate Plus Edition comes with 10,000 FC Points and a 5-season Premium Pass, while NBA’s Ultra Edition includes 35,000 VC, a Season 1 Pro Pass, and the Summer Season Pass Pro Pass Bundle. Considering all of the fuss about GTA 6’s price, you’d think that these costly editions would be struggling, but that isn’t the case at all. On the US PlayStation Store’s Pre-Order chart, NBA’s Ultra Edition is in second place, while EA Sports FC falls just behind it in third. On the UK store, EA Sports’s Ultimate Plus Edition is actually in first place, overtaking GTA 6. Both games’ standard editions are much further down the charts, suggesting a lot of players are opting for the most expensive version. It’s not just the PlayStation Store, either, as both the UK and US Xbox storefronts have NBA 2K27’s Ultra Edition high up the charts in third place, behind Modern Warfare 4 and GTA 6’s premium editions. The $150 price tags clearly aren’t putting off most players, and actually seem to be the preferred option overall. While this isn’t too much of a surprise considering how dedicated and bought-in the audiences for these games tend to be, the instant success and acceptance of $150 editions is a scary addition to an industry that’s already too expensive.
