The Petroleum minister has confirmed that E25, a fuel blend containing 25% ethanol, is currently undergoing testing but no decision has been made on its nationwide rollout. Road transport minister Nitin Gadkari highlighted that ethanol's lower calorific value could slightly impact vehicle mileage, while stressing the importance of offering alternative fuel options to people based on regional needs. Puri assured that previous engine damage complaints were not due to the fuel blend itself but other factors. This move signifies the government's interest in exploring cleaner energy options, though practical impacts on fuel efficiency and regional infrastructure readiness remain key considerations.
