E-bike rider dies after crash on suburban road

September 24, 2026 — 6:52amAn e-bike rider has died after being hit by a car just after sunset on a suburban road in Brisbane’s south.Police said the 33-year-old Holland Park man collided with a Suzuki Impreza on Chatsworth Road in Coorparoo at about 6.30pm on Wednesday.The rider was transported to the nearby Princess Alexandra Hospital, but he was later declared deceased.The car’s 28-year-old driver was not injured.Forensic crash investigators are looking into the accident, and police are appealing to the public for any vision of the crash or its lead-up.It is the second death involving e-mobility devices in the state after Queensland introduced tougher laws aimed at ensuring the safety of riders.A 13-year-old boy died last month after he crashed on an e-scooter while not wearing a helmet.The laws mean only people over 16 with valid drivers’ licences can ride the devices, and are the first of their kind in the country.Start the day with a summary of the day’s most important and interesting stories, analysis and insights.
