Dystopian moment driverless Waymo car decides to drive THROUGH upscale Colorado farmers' market

People caught the driverless vehicle making its way through the upscale South Pearl Street Farmers Market on camera around 8.15am, just shortly after vendors began setting up their stalls.As many as 160 vendors were at the location when the blue car, known as Waymo Ojai, entered a closed road and brazenly passed through, Fox 31 reports.After detecting people nearby, the self-driving car stopped for a while and flashed its blinkers, before slowly moving ahead.The bizarre ordeal left bystanders stunned, though no damage was done to the market.The organizers said there was a ‘Road Closed’ sign on one side of the street.The other side of the street was open for vendors to enter and the robotaxi followed a vendor through the food truck area and into the market. The Waymo safely drove away from the market. A spokesperson said that the car was driving to a location at South Pearl Street‘It’s still load-in, our barricades are moved to the side, so there’s vehicular access,' Nicole Jarman, the production director of the farmers market, told Fox 31.‘It followed that traffic, went slow, and then made its way on out at Arkansas and kept going.'While no one was hurt, vendors were concerned about their safety.The organizers walked ahead of the vehicle and alerted vendors and crew members about the car, ABC7 reports.Theodore Subbotin, a farmers market manager, told 9News that people took out their phones and laughed while trying to figure out how to stop the car.A Waymo spokesperson told The Denver Post that the car was driving to a destination on South Pearl Street.The Daily Mail has reached out to Waymo for further comment. When the car entered the market, it ‘quickly identified the situation and maneuvered out of the market area.’ The Waymo drove through streets while people scrambled away from the car.
