DYFI alleges backdoor appointments at KILA, demands probe

The Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) will hold a march to the Kerala Institute of Local Administration (KILA) on Thursday, protesting what it alleges are widespread “backdoor appointments” at the institution.In a statement, DYFI Thrissur district secretary K.S. Rosselraj and president P.H. Niyas alleged that several appointments had been made at KILA during the past four months without following prescribed recruitment procedures.The organisation cited the appointments of MSF State treasurer Mohammed Rashid (Rashid Kokkoor), as a coordinator at KILA headquarters and MSF Thrissur district president Shafeekh T.K. as coordinator/IT support (technical expert). Both posts, it alleged, carry a monthly remuneration of ₹25,000.DYFI alleged that the appointments were made without public notifications, written examinations or interviews. It further alleged that lists of candidates were being forwarded from the Minister’s Office for appointments to various positions, including the helpdesk.The youth organisation also alleged that several candidates who had secured places on rank lists after going through notified selection procedures were being removed before the completion of their contract periods.The DYFI claimed that party workers were being appointed to such vacancies on the recommendations of Congress and Indian Union Muslim League leaders. It also alleged that some of those appointed had been promised regularisation during the government’s five-year term.The organisation described the alleged appointments as unfair to unemployed youth seeking government and public-sector jobs and demanded an inquiry into the recruitment process.The September 24 march is being organised to protest the alleged appointments and demand transparency in recruitment at KILA.
