Duplass Brothers Make Show ‘The Long Long Night’ Free On Spotify

EXCLUSIVE: Duplass Brothers Productions (DBP) is making its independently produced series The Long Long Night free to watch on Spotify (with ads for non-premium users). Starring Mark Duplass and his real-life childhood friend—actor and playwright Barrett O’Brien—the series “follows two old friends in the aftermath of their misguided attempt to help the world by removing themselves from it.” Last year, DBP partnered with Seed & Spark on a pre-sale of the series. They then partnered with Kinema for an exclusive screening window. Now that the show is widely available, they’ve decided to make it free to watch on Spotify. The show premiered at Tribeca and played SXSW and was featured at the ATX festival in Austin. The first two episodes of the six-episode show are available now on Spotify, with two episodes per week rolling out for the next two weeks. Watch on Deadline The Duplass brothers signed a first-look development deal with Spotify for podcasts in July 2020. That deal is understsood to have lapsed. “We’re always looking for new ways to bring independently minded stories to a wider audience,” said Mark Duplass. “The Long Long Night has been a hit within the indie community but has yet to really break out, so we’re excited to see what this partnership with Spotify brings.” “Spotify is becoming a destination for compelling video experiences alongside the music, podcasts, and audiobooks people already love. We’re thrilled to welcome Long Long Night and the Duplass Brothers to Spotify, bringing their distinctive storytelling to hundreds of millions of fans around the world,” said Rae Palermo, Associate Director, Video Acquisitions, Spotify.
