Now, thanks to the Disney / Lucasfilm publishing panel at New York Comic Con, we have confirmation that not just one book — but two — will be arriving in 2027. That's a bit different than the tabletop RPG's current method for its World of Warcraft release, which releases as a single book this November. The two new books, D&D: Star Wars Core Rules and D&D: Star Wars, Tyro Squadron: Adventures, will both launch toward the end of next year. Today, D&D shared new artwork from the upcoming expansion, as well as more details on what to expect when both books arrive. The cover art for Tyro Squadron: Adventures was also shared and can be viewed below. As if the Season of Rebellion weren't enough of a hint, it's also been confirmed D&D's books will take place during the timeline of the Original Trilogy. Furthermore, Tyro Squadron: Adventures will focus on fighting against the Empire as part of a secret Rebel crew. The new stories take place as Luke and Leia fight their own battles across the galaxy. "Fly daring missions, explore new corners of the galaxy, and help shape the Rebellion’s story—your way," reads the official description. Otherwise, fans will have to wait beyond NYCC to see what the D&D: Star Wars Core Rules will have to offer. Still, it's pretty cool that we've got confirmation that both a core rulebook and a series of adventures are on the way. 2027 is shaping up to be a big year for Dungeons & Dragons. The year begins with the return of Dark Sun for Season of Survival, followed by some big Greyhawk releases during the Season of Sword and Sorcery. 2027 will end with the Season of Rebellion, focused on Star Wars. The rest of 2026 will focus on the Season of Champions, which will see the release of D&D: World of Warcraft on November 17. The hype for WoW's introduction into Dungeons & Dragons has been enormously high, but it looks like the excitement over the new Star Wars book may supersede it. Even though details on the new books are a bit thin right now, expect to hear a lot more about it as Wizards of the Coast and Disney/Lucasfilm prepare to bring the world's most popular roleplaying game to a galaxy far, far away.
