If you’ve been anywhere on the internet over the past few weeks, then you’ve no doubt heard of Jimothy, a raccoon from Seattle's Ballard who has gone viral. Jimothy’s strange round frame, which is likely due to a deformity in his spine, instantly made him iconic, and he’s become a bit of a beacon of hope for 2026. Of course, that stardom has resulted in Jimothy being added to a number of things, including being modded into some games. Perhaps the best showing of Jimothy’s fame comes from Dungeons & Dragons, who have taken an obvious step and officially turned the delightfully strange creature into a “Beloved Cryptid”. Jimothy The Raccoon Is Now Part Of D&D Canon And His Weird Look Is A Part Of His Kit Yesterday, out of nowhere, the official Dungeons & Dragons Twitter account jumped on board the Jimothy hype train by announcing that the iconic raccoon has been made into an official Cryptid for the game. Not only does Jimothy get his own render for D&D, which looks suitably wonky, but he’s also got a full stat block that was shared on D&D Beyond. The stat block confirms that Jimothy, Beloved Cryptid is an Unaligned Tiny Beast with some decent stats befitting the legend, including increased Perception, Sleight of Hand, Stealth, and Darkvision and Passive Perception as his Senses. Fittingly, he can understand Common, but can’t actually speak it. It’s Jimothy’s Traits and Actions that make him special, though. His weird shape has been turned into Compact Frame, meaning he can move through 4-inch spaces without using an extra movement. He can also Nibble, Hurl Garbage, and, most importantly, Captivate, which he’s certainly been doing to all of us this month. Jimothy can also use Skitter as a bonus action to Dash or Hide. I don’t quite know enough about Dungeons & Dragons to tell you whether Jimothy is a top-tier Cryptid or not, but he’s certainly been given a whole lot of love by Wizards of the Coast. It’s definitely a fitting thing to do for a lovable creature who looks like he’d fit right in with the Baldur’s Gate 3 crowd.
