Dubai’s DP World to Build Two New Terminals on U.A.E. East Coast, Bypassing Hormuz

DP World, a major port operator based in Dubai, is set to construct two new terminals along the U.A.E. East Coast, aiming to create an alternative logistics route that bypasses the Strait of Hormuz. This strategic move, approved by the Fujairah Ports Authority under a 50-year concession, includes a container and multipurpose terminal, as well as a general-cargo terminal. The project underscores the region's efforts to diversify its trade routes and reduce dependency on potentially volatile shipping lanes, reflecting broader geopolitical and economic shifts in global trade logistics.
