DU allows 11 colleges to admit students using Class 12 marks instead of CUET

The University of Delhi has allowed 11 colleges to admit undergraduate students for 2026–27 based on Class 12 marks instead of CUET-UG scores, in a limited move aimed at filling vacant seats. Admissions will be merit-based, with candidates required to meet the eligibility conditions for their chosen programme. The decision does not mean DU has abandoned CUET-UG. The Class 12 merit route applies only to the colleges and courses specified in the university's notice and to candidates who have not already taken admission to a DU college.THESE 11 COLLEGES ARE ON THE LISTDU CollegesKalindi CollegeZakir Husain Delhi College (Evening)Lakshmibai CollegeRajdhani CollegeShyama Prasad Mukherji College for WomenP.G.D.A.V. Before that, colleges largely admitted students through Class 12 marks and college-specific cut-offs. That system faced criticism over very high scores and differences in board evaluation, which made comparisons difficult.CUET was introduced to create a common admission basis across boards. The latest move is therefore a limited departure from that system rather than a full return to the old model.- EndsPublished By: Princy ShuklaPublished On: Aug 21, 2026 15:59 IST
