Drunk driver flees, crashes in Westlake: Bay Village police blotter
On Aug. 26, an officer stopped a driver whose vehicle was producing a large amount of smoke. The vehicle stopped initially and then fled, resulting in a short pursuit into Westlake. The vehicle became disabled after striking a curb. The driver was arrested and charged with drunk driving with a blood alcohol level of .255%. He was also charged with failure to comply to an officer, unsafe vehicle, red light, driving left of center to overtake and operation in willful or wanton disregard.
