But CCTV from traffic lights showed Batool swapping seats with Mohammed and getting behind the wheel. She then reached speeds of 143mph in dark and wet conditions on the M62 near Ripponden, West Yorkshire, before crashing. Prosecutor Christopher Dunn said: “She kept entirely shtum about that until she was forced to acknowledge it when she was confronted with unequivocal evidence proving that she was the driver at the relevant time.” Batool has now been found guilty of causing death by dangerous driving following a trial. He collected Batool from her home at about 4am and drove until they reached the traffic lights and swapped. Most read in The Sun The car was travelling at around 120mph as it passed Stott Hall Farm – the “house in the middle of the motorway” – before leaving the carriageway, hitting a barrier and overturning. Motorists desperately tried to rescue Mohammed but were beaten back by fire and an explosion. Batool escaped and was found on a grass verge with serious injuries, including burns to around 10 per cent of her body and a shattered tibia. She told jurors Mohammed had been handling controls inside the car and said: “Watch this, watch this” before reaching towards the centre console and steering wheel. She claimed the vehicle repeatedly “boosted” as he “pressed the buttons multiple times”, causing her to panic and freeze. But a Lamborghini expert told the trial there were no buttons, levers or controls which could cause such acceleration. Batool was granted conditional bail ahead of sentencing at the same court on November 2.
