Mandatory Credit: Dennis Schneidler-Imagn Images Drew Doughty collected a goal and two assists on Monday for the visiting Los Angeles Kings, who scored three times in the first period and earned a 6-3 victory over the New York Rangers. The result snapped New York's season-opening six-game home winning streak. Taylor Ward scored 1:15 into his season debut and Brandt Clarke also tallied as the Kings took a two-goal lead in the opening 4:52 by scoring on their first two shots against new Rangers goalie James Reimer. Doughty scored his first goal in 25 regular-season games as the Kings won for the third time in four games and earned their sixth straight win over New York. Former Ranger Artemi Panarin had the secondary assist on Doughty's first-period tally before scoring a power-play goal 90 seconds into the second period. Los Angeles' Mikey Anderson also scored in the second and Joel Edmundson capped it with an empty-net goal. Alex Laferriere contributed two assists as 12 players recorded a point for the Kings. Los Angeles goalie Darcy Kuemper made 23 saves. Reimer allowed three goals on eight shots in his debut for his ninth team. He tied Cam Talbot's NHL record for the most teams by a goalie. Dylan Garand relieved Reimer and allowed two goals on 17 shots. J.T. Miller scored in the first period, Adam Fox had a power-play tally in the second and Tye Kartye tallied in the third for the Rangers, who fell to 1-4-1 in their past six games and have allowed 18 goals during a three-game skid. Kartye added an assist. Los Angeles went ahead when Doughty spotted Ward cutting through the neutral zone. Ward split defensemen Sean Durzi and Marcus Pettersson and finished off a breakaway. During a long stretch of possession in the offensive zone on a delayed penalty drawn by Joel Armia, the Kings doubled the lead when Clarke went to the right edge of the crease and deflected a cross-ice pass from Scott Laughton into the net. After Miller deflected Kartye's pass with his left skate into an open net with 6:59 left in the opening period, Doughty made it 3-1 with a long drive from the left point 4 1/2 minutes later. Panarin's shot from the right circle went off Garand 14 seconds into a power play, and Anderson's goal off a faceoff 6:54 into the second opened a 5-1 lead. --Field Level Media
