Dragon Ball, the iconic forty-plus-year-old franchise that only gets more popular as time passes, is officially entering a new era in 2026. Through its many phases, including long periods of inactivity, Dragon Ball has remained one of the most successful titles in anime and manga history, and has branched out to several other forms of entertainment allowing the series to retain its powerhouse status. This year, Dragon Ball will begin its trek into unknown territory, returning to TV and gaming without the oversight of its legendary creator, Akira Toriyama. For many, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 has been the go-to Dragon Ball game for a decade, having been released in 2016 and remaining the most current entry in the series until Xenoverse 3 was officially announced this year. As a parting gift to players, the game's final Future Saga DLC is giving Goku an all-new, ultra-powerful transformation. The latest addition includes, most notably, a new transformation for Goku, officially called Ultra Supervillain Quelled, but also known by many players as Ultra Superhero. The transformation opposes Ultra Supervillain, a form which gives fighters a red aura when corrupted by Fu. Goku's Ultra Supervillain Quelled instead takes on the appearance of Ultra Instinct, though with a blue/green aura, and gives the series' leading Saiyan a stronger power-up than anything he's been able to achieve in any official Dragon Ball anime or manga series. In opposition to Goku's new form, Fu also unleashes a new power-up of his own, and one that promises to make him one of the franchise's strongest villains ever. Though it was announced months in advance that the game's latest DLC would be its last, fans and players of the series have expressed feeling a certain sort of sadness that Xenoverse 2, a game many spent several years of their lives playing and following, would officially be coming to an end with the release.
