Sign in to your TheGamer account Dragon Ball Gekishin Squadra’s massive rework has been delayed by a few months, and the community is somehow even angrier about it than they already were. The last few months have been a bit rockier for Dragon Ball games than you might expect. While Sparking Zero managed to make a big comeback and Kakarot is as beloved as ever, Xenoverse 3’s recent previews came with a surprising amount of backlash, and The Breakers has been left to quietly die without any fanfare. By far the worst example, though, is what’s happening to Dragon Ball Gekishin Squadra. Despite only releasing just over a year ago, the online MOBA was recently confirmed to be getting an overhaul that basically turns it into another game altogether. Squadra’s passionate community really wasn’t happy, and that feeling is only getting stronger thanks to a recent update. Gekishin Squadra’s Rebirth Has Been Pushed Back The Devs Aim To “Reimagine” The Game Earlier today, the official Dragon Ball Gekishin Squadra Twitter account shared an update on the game’s impending overhaul, which was previously said to be happening at the end of this year. That’s no longer the case, as the developers have decided to delay the rework by a few months to March of next year. Alongside confirming the delay, the statement shared a bit more about the developer’s intent, which is to “reimagine” Gekishin Squadra and deliver the “ultimate Dragon Ball team battle experience”. To do this, the team needs more time to polish the game, fix some bugs, and continue working on stability. Even with those positive intentions, the Gekishin Squadra community is still having absolutely none of the "bait and switch" and actually seems even more annoyed than before. Nearly all of the comments underneath the post are negative, with some begging the devs to “leave it as it is”, and others going scorched earth by suggesting the team “just nuke the damn game”. It probably doesn’t help that the delay update also announced some minor updates so that players can “continue to enjoy the current version” of Squadra. As I said when I reported on the overhaul’s announcement, while Gekishin Squadra’s overhaul appeals more to me personally, I can’t blame players for being furious that the game they love is completely changing. The devs are already on shaky ground when it comes to winning everyone back, and the sudden delay certainly doesn’t seem to be helping things.
