Doomed Vinny says his goodbyes as his fate is sealed in Emmerdale exit story

Vinny Dingle arrives in court (Picture: ITV) Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) has been gearing himself up for this moment in Emmerdale – his verdict. The meek and mildest of the Dingles, who’d just been about to get engaged and settle down with his boyfriend Lewis Barton (Bradley Riches,) turned his whole life upside down that fateful day he answered his phone while driving. That seemingly innocent call set off a horrible chain of events, that distracted him from driving, forced Jimmy off the road, and left six kids without a parent after Jimmy (Nick Miles) and Dawn (Olivia Bromley) died as a result of Vinny’s actions. Vinny didn’t even stop to see if Jimmy was ok. He and Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham) – the person at the other end of the call – then decided to keep it all a secret, meaning when it all eventually came out, the blowback was 10 times worse than it could have been. Nicola (Nicola Wheeler) and Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) are gunning for him, and Lewis dumped him. While Aaron kept repeating he’d get through it, everyone knows it’s far from likely. Still wracked with guilt, Vinny leaves flowers on Jimmy’s grave as Mandy (Lisa Riley) invites him home for tea – the last supper before the big court date. He arrives home to find all the Dingles unified to show their support on his last night of freedom. Vinny feels the love, though it’s bittersweet. Soon he’ll be the loneliest he’s ever felt. Vinny’s actions caused the deaths of Jimmy and Dawn (Picture: ITV/Metro) Everything is going to change for Vinny (Picture: ITV) He’s anxious about the day ahead and Mandy and Paddy (Dominic Brunt) try to reassure him that he’ll be back home in no time. But he caused a death by dangerous driving, he failed to stop and assist, and he lied to cover up his crime. There is no quick return home for Vinny.
