DONALD Trump has declared he may strike Iran’s Pickaxe Mountain “very soon” after months of threatening to blitz the key nuclear site. The US president also described the spiralling war with Tehran as “small potatoes for us”. The facility lies more than 300ft beneath Kolang Mountain near the Natanz nuclear facility. It is a heavily fortified site that hosts two deeply buried tunnel complexes. The regime is believed to have made the transfer after the 12-day war in June 2025, when US and Israeli strikes pummelled Iran’s three main nuclear sites. Experts say it could be more secure than any of the facilities struck by the US and Israel. Trump has previously left the site untouched while bombing Iran’s other major nuclear bunkers. In July he warned the US would strike the area “pretty soon” and “very heavily.” It comes as the war with Iran continues to spiral with no clear end in sight after months of failed negotiations and broken ceasefires. This week, Trump declared the US controls the Strait of Hormuz and suggested it should be renamed in his honour as “Trump Strait”. The US president wrote on Truth Social: “Now that we have it under U.S.A. control, should we change the name Hormuz Strait to TRUMP STRAIT???” Control of the critical oil choke point has been fiercely contested over recent months. Trump claimed it was US territory in August as he cut off all talks with the Iranian regime. Before the US-Israeli war on Iran broke out, a fifth of the world’s oil passed through the strait. Trump insists the regime has lost control of Hormuz – a wartime record of more than 17 million barrels of oil passed through on Monday, according to US Energy Secretary Chris Wright. He also launched strikes on Iran just days ago following weeks of relative calm. The US leader said the attacks were revenge for Iranian strikes on the critical shipping lane. Comment now
