The Trump administration is offering a combined $1 million to study possible ties between “gender dysphoria and violent crime.”A Department of Justice notice posted on Oct. 9 asks for applicants to propose “foundational research” on the topic to “provide actionable knowledge” to law enforcement. The unprecedented award follows an increase in high-profile mass casualty attacks linked to the trans-identifying population in recent years, including a February school shooting in Canada that left the perpetrator, two family members, and eight other victims dead. Recommended Stories “Available empirical evidence regarding this topic is limited, particularly in regard to underlying causal mechanisms,” the DOJ’s National Institute of Justice said. “To address these gaps, NIJ is interested in retrospective, secondary data analyses that explore gender dysphoria, its treatment, and the perpetration of violence and violent behavior.” “Proposals should focus on violent crime and behavior and can include formally diagnosed and/or self-identified gender dysphoria,” the funding notice says.Areas to explore can include the prevalence of violent crime among transgender people, “post-conviction analyses,” links between violence and “gender dysphoria diagnosis and/or treatment,” any “victim/offender overlap,” and whether other mental health issues or substance abuse disorders are associated with transgender violence, according to the DOJ agency.Within days of transgender shooters committing massacres, liberal voices in media have repeatedly called conservatives hateful for questioning whether affirming gender dysphoria truly helps mentally troubled people such as the perpetrators. Former President Joe Biden’s White House notably sparked criticism in 2023 for declaring that the “trans community” was “under attack” less than a week after a trans-identifying female killed children and adults at a Tennessee Christian school.DOJ CASE ATTACKS MASS MURDER FANDOM CULTURE BEHIND CANADIAN SCHOOL SHOOTINGThe contentious issue also relates to ongoing criminal cases in the U.S. A transgender Washington resident faces federal charges of aiding the teenager behind Canada’s February shooting. The DOJ and Alabama officials also accused two transgender leftists of gun crimes and threatening communications in September after one allegedly posted death threats against immigration agents.Additionally, members of the transgender-led cult “the Zizians” are currently charged around the country in connection with murders and other offenses.
