A rescue team travelled over 90 km in Maharashtra and pulled two dogs out of a 60-foot-deep well, saving their lives. The depth of the well and the risks involved in descending into it meant local resources could not safely retrieve them.After learning about the situation, the District Magistrate’s office was contacted. An assistant to the District Magistrate then approached the Manwithindis Foundation in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and shared photographs of the trapped dogs.Recognising the urgency, the foundation’s director Ashish Joshi immediately assembled a rescue team and set off for Jamwadi. The team travelled around 90 km from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar before reaching the site and beginning preparations for the operation. Wildlife rescuers Deepak Watane and Jai Desai, along with Honorary Wildlife Warden Ashish Joshi, took the necessary safety precautions before descending into the roughly 60-foot-deep well.The depth made the operation particularly challenging, with the rescuers having to carefully navigate the dangerous descent while attempting to reach the frightened dogs. Despite the risks, the team managed to get hold of both animals and bring them back to the surface safely.
