Does video show 2026 'No Kings' rallies in 7 US cities?

People reposted the video after recent "No Kings: Vote Early" events without clarifying when it was filmed. Published Oct. 22, 2026 Claim: A collage of aerial video clips authentically shows "No Kings" events in October 2026 in Minneapolis, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Chicago, New York, San Diego and Boston. ContextThe video is authentic but does not show recent gatherings, as some people falsely claimed. It features clips of larger "No Kings" rallies that occurred on Oct. 18, 2025 — almost one year ago to the day. This week, people shared a video displaying a collage of aerial clips allegedly showing "No Kings" gatherings, specifically the Oct. 17 "No Kings: Vote Early" event. Cities featured in the video included Minneapolis, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Chicago, New York, San Diego and Boston. The NoKings.org website describes "No Kings" as a movement against kings, dictators and tyrants, primarily focused on U.S. President Donald Trump and his administration. A footer on the homepage explains, "No Kings events are nonpartisan and are designed to increase participation from all eligible voters." As an example of posts currently spreading the "No Kings"-labeed video, a Facebook user's repost of it (archived) on Oct. 17 received millions of views. The post's caption read in part, "When citizens stand together and make their voices heard, the country should pay attention." That same user later claimed (archived) the video showed moments from Saturday's event and that "the news is ignoring it, and social media is censoring it." In sum, our research found the video clips were authentic but also about a year old. Therefore, we've rated the video miscaptioned. Others reposted the same video on Bluesky, Facebook (archived) and X (archived). Those users either claimed the clip showed last Saturday's gatherings or displayed comments from people who believed that it did. Some commenters falsely suggested the video was an AI-generated fake. The video was a montage of clips of "No Kings" rallies that took place on Oct. 18, 2025. On that day, the progressive activist group Indivisible — one of nine partner organizations mentioned on the NoKings.org website — posted the video on Bluesky, Facebook, Instagram and other platforms. Others prominently posted the video on or around the same day. Snopes emailed Indivisible to officially confirm that the organization was the first to post the video and whether they compiled it themselves. We'll update this article if we receive further information. Reverse image searches for each city in the video found matching clips or photos from the 2025 rallies, including for Minneapolis (at 2:42), Philadelphia (at 1:46), Washington, D.C. (at 0:17), Chicago (at 1:15:10), New York, San Diego and Boston. Fact checkers reported at the time that some users falsely alleged the 2025 Boston footage broadcast by MS NOW (formerly MSNBC) really originated in 2017. Earlier this year, some people also reposted the October 2025 footage to falsely represent "No Kings" demonstrations as occurring on March 28. Saturday's 'No Kings: Vote Early' gatherings The most recent "No Kings" event on Saturday, dubbed "No Kings: Vote Early," reportedly featured smaller demonstrations than past "No Kings" occasions — with a singular focus on the upcoming midterm elections — including community gatherings such as block parties and cookouts. The Indivisible organization posted an authentic video that they said showed glimpses at some attendees participating across the U.S. For further reading, we previously investigated whether billionaires financially backed the October 2025 "No Kings" protests.
