Published Aug 22, 2026, 7:54 PM EDT Jennifer is a TV and Movie News Editor at ScreenRant. She started her journey in entertainment media in 2022 when she first joined Valnet at CBR before coming to ScreenRant. Jennifer loves TV, especially science fiction. She also loves late-night talk shows, due to her insomnia. Alien: Earth is definitely one of her favorite shows, and she jumps on any chance she gets to write about it. Even on her days off, she will claim an Alien Earth article if one is available. Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon are two of her favorite late-night hosts, and Conan O'Brien before he left his show. Her Alien: Earth coverage for ScreenRant is by far the work that she is most proud of so far. She was initially a finance and political editor, but her passion for pop culture convinced her to transition into entertainment journalism. During her off time, she loves to binge-watch cooking shows such as Kitchen Nightmares. Jennifer also loves spending time with her daughter and cherishes every moment of it. Rumors about the Doctor Who franchise's next Doctor have been swirling around the internet, and one of the names that comes up the most often just shut down the speculation. During an appearance at For the Love of Fantasy & Sci-Fi in London, Billie Piper, who played Rose Tyler, addressed the speculation surrounding her character. She confirmed that she was not the next Doctor and revealed that there are currently no plans for her to return to Doctor Who, as the franchise's future remains uncertain. During the panel, Piper made it clear that she is not currently playing the next incarnation of the iconic character. She also said that her character, Rose, is unfortunately on "hiatus" until further notice. Piper added that any rumors claiming otherwise are false, and that she has no plans to film anything for Doctor Who or anything related to it. Piper's comments have silenced a long debate among the science fiction series' fanbase, mainly because of the way Doctor Who handled her return. "The Reality War," which aired on May 31, 2025, marked Ncuti Gatwa's final regular appearance as the Fifteenth Doctor. The episode concluded with Gatwa's iteration of the Doctor regenerating, only for Piper to appear at the end of the transformation. However, neither the episode nor the BBC has officially confirmed what the ending actually meant for Rose. Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies also kept the circumstances surrounding Piper's appearance unclear. Davies previously explained that who Piper was playing and why she had returned is a story for the future. However, the actor saying that Rose has not been involved in any future plot points contradicts his statement. But it could also be just as likely that plans have changed since the episode aired. Rose was originally introduced as a shop assistant living with her mother, Jackie Tyler (Camille Coduri), in the Doctor Who revival series when it premiered in 2005. Her character traveled with both Christopher Eccleston’s Ninth Doctor and David Tennant’s Tenth Doctor. She initially met the titular character when her shop was attacked by plastic dummies. The Doctor Who revival series can be streamed on AMC+. The latest seasons and TV specials are available on Disney+.
