Something Is Killing the Children James Tynion IV spoke to Entertainment Weekly about Blumhouse’s ambitions to turn his comic book series, Something Is Killing the Children, into a multimedia franchise. What I can say about Blumhouse… is they are not afraid of stories that put children in peril. This time around, I am much more directly involved in the development as it makes the jump into other media, in ways that I can’t fully say yet. Jason Blum himself has been a huge advocate of the series, and I know he feels the potential for what this could be beyond a comic, beyond a novel, beyond all of this. I think Erica Slaughter is a character who has the potential to resonate with people all over the world. She already has in publishing, and I am thrilled that we’re going to have the potential to see her come to life in a whole bunch of different ways. Buddy 2 Casper Kelly confirmed he has “ideas” for a sequel to Buddy during a recent interview with Comic Book. I definitely have ideas. I have ideas. And they keep coming! I’m writing them all down! So knock on wood, hopefully! But it’s early days; I’m just brainstorming right now. Hopefully. Dead Format Not to be confused with the similar Dead Media, Bloody-Disgusting has a trailer for Dead Format, a horror film set “during the final days of the video store era,” in which “a collector desperately clinging to the past while grieving his father’s death finds a mysterious tape at his local video store and discovers that nostalgia can come at a terrible price.”” Gods Don’t Give Gifts We also have a trailer for Gods Don’t Give Gifts, a fully AI sci-fi film from YouTuber Zack “Gossip Goblin” London coming to theaters this December 4. Star Trek During a recent interview with Trek Movie, Kate Mulgrew stated she believes the Star Trek franchise is set to take a “significant pause” in light of the Paramount/Warner Bros. merger. I think all of that has passed. That was some time ago. I think that with this merger, it’s anybody’s guess what’s up. My guess is it’s a pause, and probably a significant pause. That’s all right, too. Carrie Mike Flanagan revealed filming the prom scene of his Carrie TV series was “the most complicated sequence” of his career in a new interview with Bloody-Disgusting. I knew I was directing the first two episodes of the show, and, for a minute, it looked like that was all I would do. I couldn’t give up the prom. I had to [direct it]. If you’re going to do Carrie, you’ve got to do the prom. It’s the most complicated sequence of my career, logistically, by a lot. It’s one of the most difficult sequences in my career to execute, but it was one of the most exciting and rewarding. Doctor Who: TARDIS Crew Finally, the BBC has released its first look at Doctor Who: TARDIS Crew, its new series created for CBeebies following “the Doctor, a young Time Lord, and his friends Hannah, Beastie and Toast-IE as they embark on extraordinary adventures through time and space.
