In Doomquest #3, Doctor Doom's consciousness is transferred to George Washington's body during the Revolutionary War, tasked with leading the United States' independence. Instead of following the original course of events, Doom orders his troops to gather all the material he needs to create a suit of armor and designs a War Machine-like suit of armor, which allows him to slice through the British. Doom's efforts don't stop there. Using his new suit of armor that resembles Tony Stark's Iron Man Model I suit and James Rhodes' early War Machine armor, Victor von Doom sails toward England and takes over the United Kingdom. As Emperor Washington, Doom annexes the United Kingdom and the United States to the empire of Greater Latveria before he time-travels to another point in history. While his makeshift armor isn't acknowledged afterward, it probably pushed military weaponry forward multiple centuries following the Revolutionary War. Doctor Doom Finds Useful Upgrades Beneath Him Victor von Doom has always viewed himself as the ultimate expression of human potential, so he never borrows anyone else's enhancements. He could easily construct an Iron Man-style arsenal of interchangeable suits or permanently replicate many superhuman abilities through science and sorcery, but he deliberately refines his own armor into a singular extension of his identity instead of chasing someone else's technology. On the rare occasions when Doom does seize another character's power, he does so only to achieve an objective worthy of his ambitions. In Jonathan Hickman's Secret Wars, he absorbed the Beyonders' power through Molecule Man and became God Emperor Doom. In Fantastic Four #258, he stole Galactus' Power Cosmic, and he has repeatedly siphoned mystical energy from Mephisto, the Silver Surfer, the Purple Man. In Infamous Iron Man, Victor adopted an Iron Man-inspired suit after Tony Stark's apparent death, and he still redesigned the armor according to his own principles instead of simply becoming another Iron Man. Every borrowed power ultimately becomes another instrument of Doom's vision, even if it means altering world history to the point where the United States and the United Kingdom become extensions of Latveria.
