DMK stages protest in Coimbatore against CM Vijay’s Assembly remarks

The DMK staged a protest in Coimbatore city on Saturday (September 12), condemning what the party described as “arrogant” remarks made by Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay in the Assembly.The protest was led by DMK Coimbatore city district secretary Durai Senthamizh Selvan, north district secretary Thondamuthur Ravi and south district secretary Thalapathy Murugesan. The organisers claimed that more than 5,000 people participated in the protest.Addressing the gathering, Mr. Selvan said Mr. Vijay had targeted not only the DMK leadership but also its ideology. He criticised the Chief Minister over his handling of questions related to law and order in the Assembly and alleged that the government was functioning with the support of its alliance partners.He also accused the State government of failing to promote industrial development and said the DMK could not be weakened by personal attacks. Mr. Ravi referred to the DMK’s history and said the party had played a role in promoting the Tamil language and social causes.Mr. Murugesan said the DMK would defeat Mr. Vijay’s party in the next Assembly election. The protesters raised slogans against the Chief Minister and carried placards condemning his remarks during the Assembly proceedings.Coimbatore MP Ganapathy P. Rajkumar, Mayor K. Ranganayaki, Valparai MLA Sudhakar, DMK resolution committee secretary N. Karthik, Deputy Mayor R. Vetriselvan, and several former office-bearers participated in the protest.
