DJ Fat Tony reveals he was expelled from school for 'sleeping with his teacher' aged 14 - and says he has spent over £1 million on drugs after abuse led to addiction battle

DJ Fat Tony has revealed he was expelled from school for 'sleeping with his male teacher' at the age of 14.Tony experienced extensive grooming and abuse between the age of 10 and 14, which he has said contributed to a decades-long struggle with addictions.The music star, 60, real name Tony Marnach, said he was reprimanded at the time because it wasn't recognised that he was a victim of child abuse.Speaking on Olivia Attwood's podcast Olivia House, she said: 'You were expelled from school for sleeping with a teacher - that is wild.''At that time was that recognised that you were being abused? Because you were 14?' Olivia asked. 'Absolutely not!' Tony stated.Tony explained: 'He [the teacher] lost his job as well. 'We both walked away from the situation and my mum had to deal with that because my dad didn't know [about his expulsion] so I had to pretend to go to school. 'But also, at the same time, being led to believe that I was the problem at school because I couldn't read or write properly because I had dyslexia, because I didn't have an attention span to sit in class so therefore I was a problematic child that they no longer wanted there.'And to feel that rejection not only from the school but from my abuser and everything else, being made to feel that I was worthless.'I used to leave school and go and seek sex because that's all I knew. That was the only way I could change how I was feeling, it was like a false sense of being wanted.'It was a really sad existence but it was a learnt existence that carried on, it would always go away when I met new people but it always came back because it was untreated.'Tony has been incredibly open about his personal journey to recovery after suffering with drug addiction. In the same interview, Tony revealed he has spent over £1million on drugs over the years. He said: 'I was still getting paid really good money, I would go to work on a Thursday or Friday and would come home on a Tuesday or Wednesday - my brain was shot. It took me a day to get home sometimes because I didn't have the courage to walk.'My whole body ached. Those things when I say "I've spent over a million pounds on drugs," they're not badges of honour, they are the opposite end.'There is nothing glamorous about spending that kind of money, there's nothing glamorous about taking that amount of drugs, there's nothing to be proud of except for being alive now, the change and finding that change.'I'm not proud of the things I've done, I'm not proud of that stuff, I was really sick.' The music star told Olivia Attwood that he was reprimanded at the time because it wasn't recognised that he was a victim of child abuseThe flamboyant DJ grew up on an estate in Battersea and was given his first line of cocaine by Freddie Mercury at the age of 15. He first found fame as a drag artist in the 80s before turning to the decks in the 90s, and becoming part of a party set that included Tracey Emin, Kate Moss and Madonna. Tony has also been very open about his HIV diagnosis, which he has lived with for over 20 years. He told Olivia: 'I don't have HIV in my system, I have an injection every three months. I haven't been able to transmit anything for over 20 years.'I lost so many friends to HIV, I lost I lost real friends.'Tony added: 'I wasn't diagnosed until 2002 and that's when I contracted it.'In a past interview with the Daily Mail, Tony – who overcame a crippling addiction to drugs and alcohol more than 18 years ago – said how he 'was the problem'.He explained: 'Since I got sober that reconnection to music is the best gift anyone could ever give me. Some people listen to music but I feel music, it is the best drug there ever is.'Alcohol and drugs aren't the problem, I'm the problem. Being around it is no longer a problem for me because I choose not to do it. People ask me if I miss it and I think 'are you insane?''My life is so incredible because of the things I don't do. If I started doing those things again my life would be over, my career would be over.'Tony had an epiphany and he soon quit drugs cold turkey, spending six months in rehab to beat the addiction.He added: 'The first 3 months I thought how am I going to do this because for me there was no second chances, I'd reached the end of the road with drink and drugs.'I got to 7 stone, I had no teeth, I was completely gone. Suddenly the pilot light came on one night and the love from one person saved my life.'From that moment on I chose to go to rehab for 6 months and then come to London, it was a really big thing because I knew at that point I would never go back.'
