Disney's New Star Wars Show Introduced One Of The Galaxy's Most Powerful Jedi

The newest Star Wars show has introduced a new Jedi who may just be the strongest character Disney has created since purchasing the franchise. In the years since Disney purchased Lucasfilm, the company has created a plethora of new Jedi. From Rey Skywalker in the sequel trilogy of Star Wars movies to new Jedi in Star Wars shows like The Acolyte and published books and comics like The High Republic, Disney has created countless new Force wielders. Even with all the new characters Disney has introduced to the franchise, the list of the most powerful Jedi in Star Wars hasn't changed much over the years. Luke and Anakin Skywalker remain the most important and powerful people in the galaxy far, far away, and other heavy hitters like Yoda and Obi-Wan Kenobi still sit quite high on the list. Rey has joined the top of the list, but for the most part, classic Jedi are still the franchise's strongest Jedi. The new, non-canon series Star Wars: Visions Presents - The Ninth Jedi, however, has introduced a new Jedi who can rival even the likes of Yoda or Anakin Skywalker. The Ninth Jedi isn't part of canon or the larger Star Wars timeline, so its powerful new Jedi can't replace Luke or Anakin. Still, even though The Ninth Jedi exists in its own separate continuity, one of the Jedi it created may be the strongest Force wielder Disney has ever introduced to Star Wars. The Ninth Jedi's Lah Zhima Is One Of The Most Powerful Jedi In Disney's Star Wars Credit: Disney+ via MovieStillsDB The Ninth Jedi, in tandem with its two standalone Star Wars: Visions episodes, introduced a number of new Jedi and Sith, ranging from Obi-Wan Kenobi stand-in Margrave Juro to the General Grievous-like Gennoh. The single most powerful Jedi it introduced was Lah Zhima, Lah Kara's father and the sabersmith who created the lightsabers that change color based on the wielder's attunement to the Force. As The Ninth Jedi revealed, Lah Zhima wasn't just the only sabersmith alive at the time, he was also the single most powerful Jedi in the galaxy. Zhima was the most skilled lightsaber duelist at Reno Tsutara's Academy, and he would regularly be dispatched to fight Sith because of it. He was such a skilled duelist that he actually defeated his own master in combat after discovering that Reno Tsutara was secretly manipulating galactic trade routes and killing anyone who stood in his way. Later, he easily defeated Gennoh, the Last Sith, in one-on-one combat without taking a single blow. Most importantly, Lah Zhima was the first Jedi to ever achieve emotional emptiness and nothingness, which turned his blade from blue to silver. In The Ninth Jedi's version of Gray Jedi, emotional emptiness grants a Jedi extreme clarity and control over their feelings, allowing them to elevate their power both in the Force and in dueling. Zhima maintained that emotional clarity for years, from the time he killed Reno Tsutara to the time Lah Kara became a full-fledged Jedi. There are some caveats to Lah Zhima's strength, of course. He was defeated in combat by Nawaam in The Ninth Jedi's finale, and the show also demonstrated that there are flaws with perfect clarity and emotional emptiness. Still, Zhima survived his fight with Nawaam, he had decades of experience defeating Sith in honorable combat, he saw through Reno Tsutara's ruse when no one else could, and he also raised his daughter to be the second-greatest Jedi in The Ninth Jedi. All those feats, combined with the inhuman speed and precision he used in his dueling, easily puts Lah Zhima on par with the strongest Jedi in Star Wars, like Anakin Skywalker. Lah Zhima Is The Closest Star Wars Will Ever Get To A Gray Jedi As previously mentioned, Lah Zhima was essentially The Ninth Jedi's version of a Gray Jedi. Among Star Wars fans, there's an idea that a Jedi would be able to gain quite a bit of power by using both the dark and light sides of the Force without fully committing to either. Using objectively strong dark side powers like Force lightning without giving into the hate that drives the Sith should give a Jedi ways to use those dark side powers for good, in theory. Star Wars canon has never entertained the idea of Gray Jedi, but the emotional emptiness and clarity that Lah Zhima and other characters who use a silver lightsaber in The Ninth Jedi is the closest Disney has ever come to that idea. Silver lightsaber users are perfectly balanced between the light and dark sides of the Force; as Nawaam says, "nothingness" goes beyond the simple dichotomy of the Jedi and the Sith. They also clearly have more power than simple Jedi and Sith, as Nawaam was able to easily dispatch Margrave Juro once he achieved his state of silver clarity. Unlike both Nawaam and Lah Kara, Lah Zhima doesn't choose either the dark or light side of the Force at the end of The Ninth Jedi. There's a good chance that he rejoined the light side of the Force after dealing with the trauma of killing Reno Tsutara, but the show didn't outright show Zhima's blade changing. In another blow to the notion of Gray Jedi, The Ninth Jedi also summarily dismantles the idea. While silver lightsaber users are more powerful than regular Jedi and Sith, they're not the pinnacle of power in The Ninth Jedi. Lah Kara demonstrates that perfectly: she achieves perfect balance and control of her emotions, which puts her on par with Nawaam, but she then dedicates that balance to the pursuit of the light side, which allows her to easily defeat him. Trying to stand in the middle of the Force isn't an effective strategy, but using a balance between light and dark to serve the light is.
