Disney+ Sets Premiere For Korean Drama Series ‘The Remarried Empress’

Disney+ has set a November 4 launch date for its lavish historical K-drama The Remarried Empress, starring Shin Mina and Ju Jihoon, which will receive a world premiere in the On Screen section of the upcoming Busan Film Festival. Based on a Naver Webtoon of the same name that has amassed almost 3 billion views, the 10-part series follows the strained relationship of the Empress Navier and her husband Emperor Sovieshu. While anxieties are rising across the kingdom, the couple’s relationship is tested when the Emperor falls in love with a runaway slave. Shin Mina (Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha) plays Empress Navier, with Ju Jihoon (Light Shop) as Emperor Sovieshu, Lee Jongsuk (Big Mouth) as a Crown Prince that the Empress attempts to marry when her existing marriage falls apart, and Lee Seyoung (The Red Sleeve) as the escaped slave Rashta. Directed by Cho Suwon (Still 17, Pinocchio), the series has been adapted for screen by Yeoh Geena and Hyun Choongyeol. Watch on Deadline The Busan Film Festival, which runs October 6-15, is screening the first three episodes in its On Screen section, while Disney+ will stream the first four episodes November 4, with subsequent episodes dropping every Wednesday through to the series finale November 25.
