Disney Reveals Official First Look at Rapunzel and Flynn in Live-Action ‘Tangled’

They unveiled the first look at the upcoming remake at their D23 Expo, revealing the new incarnations of Rapunzel, Flynn, and Mother Gothel. Collider's Joe Schmidt was on the scene. Tangled is Disney's modernized twist on the German fairy tale Rapunzel; a massive success upon its release in 2010, it heralded a new era for the studio's animated features. The original starred Mandy Moore as the voice of Rapunzel, a young woman with an excess of hair who is kept imprisoned in a tower, ostensibly for her own safety, by Mother Gothel (Donna Murphy). Isolated from the outside world, she finally comes in contact with an outsider when the young thief Flynn (Zachary Levi) hides out in her tower; she eventually strikes a deal with the larcenous lad to let her see the world. However, she soon learns the truth behind her imprisonment, and the terrible secrets of Mother Gothel. In the first look at footage from the remake, as the film's signature lanterns filled the screen and the exhibition hall, we can see Teagan Croft (Titans) as Rapunzel, Milo Manheim (School Spirits) as Flynn, and the much-anticipated Kathryn Hahn (Agatha All Along) as Mother Gothel.
