Disney Lorcana Collector Boosters Revealed In Greater Detail, Launching In 2027

We finally have news about what a Collector Booster pack will look like in Disney Lorcana, and I have to admit that I'm very relieved. Whether or not this product takes strain away from the base booster packs remains to be seen, and we still have to wait until 2027 to see them in action. Officially launching alongside Into the Inkdark, Collector Boosters will be 12-card packs that consist entirely of foil cards. They'll also introduce a new serialized Illustrious card, bringing back six cards from older sets with a stunning new look and numbered to just 23 copies. Collector Boosters Become Much Clearer, And Now Everyone Can Relax So, after a few weeks of worrying about what exactly Collector Boosters will look like in Disney Lorcana, everyone can take a huge sigh of relief, as the worst-case scenario is far from the truth. The reality is that Collector Booster packs will contain 12 cards, all of which will be foil variants at the very least. They will contain all the same cards from the main set, except for the chance to pull a super rare serialized card, called an Illustrious card, from Lorcana's past. These six returning cards will have new artwork, a larger printing of the artist's name at the bottom of the card, and the numbering out of 23 at the top of the card. While these cards won't be legal in Core Constructed, they can be used in Infinity. Granted, if you do pull one of these cards in the future, I highly recommend not using them to play games; they're just too pretty! The example that was shown during the D23 panel is Maleficent, Biding Her Time, with artwork by Kendall Hale. It's not yet confirmed if all of these chase cards will be limited to 23 copies in future sets, but that is where the bar is set for Into the Inkdark. Will Collector Boosters Ease Availability Issues In Lorcana? General availability is at an all-time low in Lorcana as price volatility is at an all-time high, it seems, but can this new product help take some of that pressure away? In all honesty, I don't see there being enough about Collector Boosters to draw attention away from regular booster boxes. Enchanted and Iconic cards will still be in regular booster packs, and even though the Iconic and Enchanted hit rate is higher in Collector Boosters, I expect most players may stick to the OG boosters, as that is where their chase cards will still be, I assume, for a much lower outright price. We are still waiting for more details about Collector Boosters, though, including their price, so until we have the complete picture, it's difficult to judge what kind of impact they will have on the game as a whole. Regardless, a single new card type that is serialized and has no impact on Core Constructed is about the best outcome we could have hoped for, so hopefully the community can rest easy now that the game's identity isn't at risk because of this product expansion.
