As with every trading card game, a new set can mean some pretty big changes to the meta, and Disney Lorcana: Attack of the Vine certainly did just that. The 13th expansion to the TCG, Attack of the Vine, introduced several new card classifications, including teams, to the game, which significantly alter how the best decks work. Between allowing multiple inks in one deck with the Winnie the Pooh characters, or simply giving massive amounts of lore, these new cards are impressive. Attack of the Vine's new game mechanics switch up Disney Lorcana's play dynamics in multiple ways, giving players all new strategies to keep in mind when forming new decks. Of course, getting creative with how you build your deck can mean that even some of the lesser-used cards can become strong in their own right. However, here are some of the most powerful cards for the current Disney Lorcana meta builds. Honorable mention goes to "Potato" because... it's a potato. Windstorm (Action) Rare Card 203/207 This unassuming little Action card may not seem that impressive at first glance, until you think about just how many cards in the competitive play scene give characters Evasive. In a game where you're battling against an Evasive-heavy deck, throwing down a well-timed Windstorm can be a game-changer. Any character that is tagged as Evasive means that it can't be challenged unless the opposing character is also Evasive. If you're playing a deck that doesn't have many characters with this tag, you could end up with little to no offensive strategy. Playing Windstorm for a four-ink cost, which is inkable if not needed, will allow you to effectively deal three damage to every character and location that has Evasive. The Bear - Territorial Animal Common Card 112/207 "The Bear" card is a Common rarity and a complete powerhouse for any offensive strategy. The card only costs three ink, so it is possible to play it very early on in the game, and as long as it has damage on it, it gets an increase to its strength to do five damage when challenging or being challenged. Of course, if you can play it and challenge to get a little bit of damage on it, then "The Bear" can easily knock out most other early-game cards, and even some of the late-game ones. This is even better if you pair it with something that can remove some damage if "The Bear" starts to get too injured, such as the "Heal what has been hurt" Song card. Darkwing Duck & Launchpad - St. Canard's Finest Super Rare Card 165/207 Or Enchanted Card 242/207 Besides looking awesome and being some of the most wanted characters prior to their joining Lorcana, Darkwing Duck and Launchpad McQuack are also a powerful Team in the TCG. One of the new team cards, of which there are plenty on this list, the seven-ink card can be shifted for five ink to play on top of either a Darkwing Duck or Launchpad card already in play. With an attack of five and defense of seven, it's a powerful challenger. While the card could simply quest for two lore, it is made even better when players can challenge low-level opposing characters. As long as "Darkwing Duck & Launchpad" can banish another character in a challenge, no matter which side instigated it, this player can gain two lore. Additionally, with the Ward ability, opponents can't use any other cards to sneakily remove it from play. Mike Wazowski - Heroic Climber Super Rare Card 18/207 Or Enchanted Card 226/207 "Mike Wazowski - Heroic Climber" is pretty much the opposite of an offensive powerhouse. Dealing no damage at all, and not even being an inkable card might make it easy to overlook this little Pixar alien monster from Monsters, Inc. This two-cost card has a defense of four and can quest for one lore. However, it's the Find a Friend skill that really makes Mike worthwhile. When Mike is first played to the table, and then every time he quests from then on out, the player can look at the top card of their deck. If it's a character card, they can put it in their hand. With Mike only costing two ink, you can feasibly get him on the table early in the game, and if you're lucky enough to get characters on the top of your deck, you can quickly build up your hand before your opponent can do anything about it. Mickey Mouse & Minnie Mouse - Adventuring Duo Legendary Card 99/207 Or Enchanted Card 238/207 Disney Lorcana has a lot of Mickey and Minnie cards throughout its library. Every set from The First Chapter has included the familiar Disney mascot in some way, and often there are some very low-cost cards bearing Mickey or Minnie's names. Despite "Mickey Mouse & Minnie Mouse - Adventuring Duo" having a scary-looking seven ink cost to play, this team can instead use the new Duo Shift game mechanic to shift on top of both a Mickey and Minnie card in play at absolutely zero additional cost. This makes it so you could theoretically put this card out on turn two and have a five offense, five defense card in play that can quest for five lore. Whether played early in the game or not, this is a strong card that wouldn't take much to put in play. Gaston - Superior Archer Uncommon Card 15/207 "Gaston - Superior Archer" is another one of those Uncommon cards that doesn't seem all that spectacular until you really think about strategy. His offense, defense, and even lore gathering are all pretty basic, but the Watch This! skill is where he shines. When Gaston enters play, you can choose any of your opponent's characters, whether exerted or not, and as long as they have a challenge of five or more, you can immediately banish them. This is an excellent and swift means of removing some of the larger threats that might otherwise be difficult to deal with, and then you still have a decent card on the table to quest and challenge with. If you really want to work it, you can use a card to put Gaston back in your hand so you can play him again and effortlessly banish yet another character. Peter Pan & Tinker Bell - Fast Friends Super Rare Card 60/207 Or Enchanted Card 233/207 There are few duos as iconic as Peter Pan and Tinker Bell. This Team card allows you to shift for four to put "Peter Pan & Tinker Bell - Fast Friends" on either a Peter Pan or Tinker Bell card already in play. While it's already a decent card for its stats, it also gives you the You Can Fly! skill. This means that all your characters suddenly have Evasive as long as this Team is in play. Not only does this protect the characters you have, but it also allows you to then openly attack opposing Evasive cards. This skill is particularly useful when paired with "Dumbo - Ninth Wonder of the Universe" from the Fabled set. Dumbo's skill can allow all those with Evasive to draw a card and gain a lore. Meilin Lee - Popular Red Panda Legendary Card 125/207 Or Enchanted Card 240/207 When Turning Red was added to the list of properties in Disney Lorcana, it brought with it many more songs, particularly for Ruby ink. While "Meilin Lee - Popular Red Panda" is a six-cost legendary card, you can at least Temporary Shift for three if you have another Meilin Lee in play and don't mind having to return this card to your hand. Then, not only can this card quest for three lore, but if you instead use this card to sing a song, you get three lore for singing. This makes it perfect if you already want to play a song card, as you'll get to use the song's abilities and gain lore at the same time. Winnie The Pooh & Piglet - Hunny Mages Super Rare Card 62/207 Or Enchanted Card 234/207 In order for this card to be most effective, you would also need to have at least one copy of "Christopher Robin - Hunny Sage" in your deck. Having Christopher Robin allows you to have any characters listed as Hunny type in your deck, regardless of the ink type. Therefore, if you then build a deck around Hunny characters and feature Winnie the Pooh friends of all ink types, when you play this Team card for "Winnie the Pooh & Piglet," you can have the potential of up to six lore each time you quest, as long as the different inks are represented. At a Shift cost of only three, this gives you a lot of freedom to quickly gather lore to rush to 20. Source Of The Vine Super Rare Card 72/207 The most powerful card from Attack of the Vine appropriately has to do with the vine itself. This Item card, "Source of the Vine", costs four ink to play, but then will stay in play until your opponent can do something about it. Once in play, every time your opponent tries to quest with a character, you will get one lore unless that player pays one ink. Then, you can also tap the card and spend two ink to gain a lore on your turn as well. This not only gives you a massive boost in lore, but will pretty effectively stall your opponent from any strategy they're working on as they are quickly using up their available ink, or handing you lore. That makes this a very useful card for any Disney Lorcana deck.
