Disney Channel Actress Carla Jeffery Dead at 33The Disney Channel family is in mourning. Carla Jeffery, star of the original Zombies movie trilogy who also appeared in Good Luck Charlie and Shake It Up, died at age 33, her management team led by Carla Alexander announced Sept. 2. "It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved Carla Jeffrey," Alexander wrote in the statement, "who passed away on September 1, 2026, at just 33 years old." "For more than 20 years," the post continued, "we had the privilege of watching her grow into a beautiful, vibrant and incredibly talented woman whose radiant smile could light up any room.” Her cause of death was not shared. The iCarly actress began her career at 12 years old, costarring with Mo'Nique in her first major role in Phat Girlz, in which Jeffrey played the younger version of the star's character. "As Bree in Disney's hit Zombies franchise, Carla shared her joy, humor and bright spirit with audiences around the world," Alexander continued. "Our hearts are with Carla's family and loved ones during this devastating time."The statement went on to request privacy for Jeffrey's family and friends as they "grieve this unimaginable loss," and added in the caption that she would be remembered by "her infectious smile, her laughter, her talent and the beautiful light she carried everywhere she went." Indeed, beyond playing a cheerleader on the Disney monster hit, the child star's talent shone through across her many roles on TV over the past 20 years, including appearances on notable series such as Southland, Suburgatory and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. In addition, the late performer memorably guest starred on Curb Your Enthusiasm for 10 episodes as Keysha Black, the daughter of Vivica A. Fox's character Loretta Black. Outside of acting on screen, Jeffrey had an accomplished career as a voice actress. She voiced Mania in Spider-Man (2020) and revived her character Bree for Zombies: The Re-Animated Series.The Walt Disney Company via Getty ImagesIn light of the heartbreaking news, the Houston native's Hollywood peers have spoken out to share their condolences, including her Zombies costar Chandler Kinney. "This doesn’t feel real," Kinney penned in an Instagram tribute featuring snapshots of their close friendship on set. "The sweetest, most sparkly gal. you made every day better and brighter with your infectious positivity." "I feel so grateful to have known your love. I’m going to miss laughing with you, and watching you break out your signature splits on any & every dance floor," the 26-year-old continued. "You’re a legend in my eyes, and your legacy of bringing joy and comfort to people everywhere will live on forever.
