Diddy In The Hole As Plethora Of Contraband Violations Revealed; Grammy Winner Faces Delayed Release

Sean “Diddy” Combs’ sweet ride behind bars has come to an end. No official word has come down yet from the federal Bureau of Prisons in response to a NBC News segment this week revealing the Bad Boy Records founder has been using banned cellphones, allegedly smuggling in booze and having a paid for a de facto posse and cleaning staff during his incarceration. However, sources tell me authorities at FCI Fort Dix that Combs’ actions will have “serious consequences.” Among them, Combs has now been placed in solitary confinement at the low-security New Jersey facility. Convicted of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution in July 2025 and sentenced to a 50-month stint (with time served), Combs was moved out of the prison’s general population late Wednesday, I hear. How long Combs will stay in the hole is TBD, but also under consideration is pushing back the Grammy winner’s early 2028 release date. After several shifts in Combs’ release date in part due to his participation in a drug treatment program, he most recently saw his date moved up to January 21, 2028 from the date of May 8, 2028 date he had when he entered Fort Dix. That date was a far cry from the June 4, 2028 date he was assigned in November of last year. Now, because of the violations revealed on camera by NBC, Combs could be looking at months being re-added. The BOP had no specific comments on Combs or the images and reports of his champagne lifestyle behind bars but told Deadline: “Like all correctional agencies, contraband, particularly cell phones, narcotics, and weapons, remains a constant challenge, and we continue to tackle the problem of contraband being introduced into our facilities. Inmates are not permitted to have access to cell phones, and all incarcerated individuals in the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) who are found to violate the ‘Inmate Discipline Program’ policy are subject to sanctions.” All of this would be moot if Combs received the pardon he begged Donald Trump for, or if NYC jurors last year had found Combs guilty of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking charges, as prosecutors in the high-turnover Southern District of New York’s U.S. Attorney’s Office had hoped. That verdict in the 2025 trial over filmed sex parties and freak-offs, Cassie Ventura beatings, drug binges, threats, exploding cars and allegedly hanging people off balconies, would have seen Combs, 56, receive a life sentence behind bars. Combs’ rep Juda Engelmayer on Thursday had nothing to say about the once mini-mogul being in solitary or a possible delay in his release from prison, but he certainly had questions about who should be getting punished, who else is in the wrong and how. “There is something odd about all of this. Someone was apparently able to record Sean inside the prison, and numerous stories continue to emerge from inside the facility in real time,” the crisis communications veteran told Deadline. “Yet the focus inevitably lands on the celebrity because he is the person everyone recognizes. There are legitimate questions about how recordings and information are making their way out of a federal prison in the first place. Focusing almost exclusively on the famous inmate may make the easiest headline, but it overlooks the broader question of how this material is being obtained and circulated.” As Combs’ East Coast case is in the middle of a fast-tracked appeal, the L.A. County District Attorney’s office still has a LAPD sexual battery report on him “under review,” a spokesperson for Nathan Hochman‘s team tells Deadline. Handed over to the DA in late 2025, the LAPD case concerns music producer Jonathan Hay. Last November, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed a probe had been opened into Hay’s claims of sexual battery by Combs against him in L.A. in 2020. Like with all the charges, claims and complaints against him, Combs says he is innocent in the Hay matter.
