Another wrote: “Most of the UK are having a heatwave, yet Hull has managed to look like a midwinter game with the floodlights on at midday. “Welcome back to the Premier League.” While a third joked: “Floodlights on at 12:30pm in summer? Hull is not a real place…” Hull took the lead through Semi Ajayi in the 17th minute after a shot that was initially saved by Senne Lammens fell to him in front of goal. Nobel Mendy then made it two after heading home a free kick from Regan Slater.
